Today, I would like to talk about these two points. Yuika’s beliefs as a Pastel Art Instructor A request for those who take Atelier Soleil’s original courses.
What I value
What Yuika values in my work as an instructor
What I would like to ask those who draw Atelier Soleil’s original design
That is I want you to feel the joy of expression. I want you to receive something
I want you to receive something from my courses.
I have been working as an instructor since 2018.
I was not sure of what was right and what was left, but I just kept on drawing the art that I wanted to draw.
Thankfully, I had received many requests.
So I started giving lessons and making textbooks by hand.
At first, I didn’t have time to think about it.
But as I gradually got used to the situation and learned more about the world of pastel art, I began to have a lot of unanswered questions and doubts.
Expressing oneself
One, I have already publicly stated,
“Why is learning a finished design the main thing when art is essentially a means of expressing yourself?”
To be honest, I don’t know much about the art industry other than pastel art.
However, from my experience of attending art classes for about two years when I was in elementary school, and from looking at my sons’ kindergarten and school arts and crafts creations, this is what I think.
Art is the way to freely express what you want to draw.
Techniques and techniques are learned as a means to that end.
Although we may copy to improve our skills, isn’t it only in the pastel art industry that copying is the main focus?
I would like to add, so that there is no misunderstanding, that I am not denying the fact that we learn from finished designs.
Drawing a picture is still something extraordinary or a little bit special….
But because the design is fixed, it is (relatively) easy to draw.
You can enjoy it relatively easily.
The person who came up with this amazing and revolutionary system is truly amazing!
And even if Yuika were told to
“Compose!”
I definitely think,
“What? What are you talking about? (I feel that way even more because I can’t read music scores.)”
Well, I don’t even want to compose music because I don’t want to learn music.
This “I don’t even want to compose music” is the point: I don’t think about it, so I don’t have to do it.
But if you are thinking about it…?
And if you already have the necessary skills to do so…?
Whether or not you can take the first step!
That’s really all there is to it.
